BIO 23 Call for Entries is open! Deadline for entries: April 8
Designers, commissioners, producers, students and design organisations, from anywhere in the world, have until 30 March 2012 to submit products, concepts and projects, from any area of design, which have been created in the past two years.
The BIO 23 exhibition will be held from 27 September to 11 November 2012 at the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Adopting the theme “Design Relations”, the exhibition will highlight fresh ideas and explore how design relates to the social, the sustainable, and the cultural, while displaying crossovers between culture and commerce, crafts and industry.
BIO Design Awards and Jury
A jury comprising design experts Giulio Cappellini, Sven Jonke, Sophie Lovell, Jimmy MacDonald and Vasa J. Perović, will present awards to the best of the exhibited design works. The BIO GOLD MEDAL, BIO HONOURABLE MENTIONS, THE BIO GREEN AWARD and THE AWARD FOR A STUDENT WORK will be presented at the opening ceremonies of the Biennial on 27 September. The winner of the BIO Gold Medal will receive a monetary prize in the amount of €5,000.
About biennial
The Biennial of Design is one of the few major international design exhibitions with a tradition of more than 48 years that presents a carefully chosen selection of contemporary trends in international design. From the first biennial in 1964 to today, BIO has presented 22 exhibitions that survey the best in international design. The organiser of the biennial is the Museum of Architecture and Design.
About curators
Margo Konings and Margriet Vollenberg are the founders of the studio Organisation in Design. They are known for the projects as Ventura Lambrate and Ventura Berlin at Qubique. Their studio is specialised in organisation of all aspects of design for designers, design studios and other design related companies, among others, Atelier Ted Noten, Maarten Baas, Kiki van Eijk, Studio Makkink & Bay in Joost van Bleiswijk.
